The Flood
The Flood is an explosion of colour and power – geysers and sprays of colour blast across the work like waves against rock, while animals (large and small) scatter through an environment in a violent state of collapse, as the forces of nature overwhelm it.
“The Flood feels like the beginning of a new chapter in my work; I wanted to simplify things, create more space. This piece is about the power of nature; the wind, the sea. I just think there's something so magnificent about these animals, I wanted to bring them into an extreme environment. I love there to be metaphors and messages in my work. Some people may look at this piece and see a comment about environmentalism, others might notice the nod to Hockney I included (the swimming pool), or maybe they'll take away the idea that life is an uphill struggle, you have to keep on going - nature will carry on.” - Dan Baldwin
The Flood is a signed silkscreen print, limited to an edition of 100.
